Which 3 couples made it to Dancing With the Stars’ finals next week?

Tonight on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars was all about spinning out the suspense -- until three finalists were finally announced by hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke.

SPOILER ALERT: Please don’t read any further if you want to watch the West Coast tape-delayed broadcast of Dancing With the Stars without anything revealed. Consider this our one and only friendly warning! But come back after the show to see if you agree with our observations.

The producers of the top-rated show had no choice but to stack the semifinals with entertainment to keep TV viewers and the studio audience on tenterhooks awaiting the results.

There was one tasty tidbit right from the start when Olympic figure skating champion Evan Lysacek and sassy redheaded partner Anna Trebunskaya were declared safe -- just as everyone (including Vegas DeLuxe) predicted back on the first week! As a mucho gracias, they reprised their paso doble to Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life” that won them a perfect score of 30 last night.

DWTS Season 10: Semifinals

In addition to Miley Cyrus’ birdcage number, Sarah McLachlan sang and DWTS alumni Melissa Rycroft returned to dance with Joe Fatone. Plus, two more college teams performed in the dance-off.

That took it to the wire. Three couples remained in the closing minutes. Then as was totally expected, also by everyone from Week 1, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger and Las Vegas’ Derek Hough were declared safe, leaving the only suspense between the exit of ESPN’s Erin Andrews, with Le Reve choreographer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, or the change-out of Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, with Cheryl Burke.

The judges wanted both to remain, but that’s impossible, so exactly as we called it last night and today, Chad was told to pack up his dancing shoes and return to the gridiron with his cleats. The finals are Nicole, Erin and Evan!

We’ll have tonight’s photos tomorrow and a look at what fate might spin for the top trio next week.
