For the newest The Bachelorette star Ali Fedotowsky, it was the ultimate dream date at Aria in MGM’s CityCenter, but we won’t know the result until Monday when Episode 2 of Season 6 of The Bachelorette airs on ABC. It starts with 17 bachelors sizzling on a Malibu Beach, and one -- Jesse, a Missouri general contractor -- gets to take her to Las Vegas via private jet.

The episode features a pool party at the new Liquid Beach Club, a gourmet dinner in a luxurious Sky Villa and a private music performance with British singer Jamie Cullum at Haze. On the last season of The Bachelor, Ali chose her job over a shot at love. Now she’s ready to give love another try thanks to the CityCenter experience. I’ve no idea of the outcome but can tell you that 14 men remain at the end of Monday from the 25 originally wooing her.

*Poker players are among the most generous and philanthropic people on the planet. They continually use poker to help raise awareness and funds for worthy causes throughout the year. With the 41st Annual World Series of Poker getting underway this week, the organization has designated Nevada Cancer Institute as the official community partner of WSOP. With more than $175 million in prize money likely to be awarded this year, if players returned 1 percent of their winnings in 2010, an incredible $1.75 million would be raised to help fight cancer. WSOP has set up in its payout program an opportunity for those cashing in the 57 bracelet events to donate 1 percent of their winnings to NCI. Then on July 3, the annual Ante Up for Africa Charity Celebrity Poker Tournament also is at The Rio hosted by actor Don Cheadle and poker princess Annie Duke and draws big names from Hollywood, sports and poker.
*Our colleagues at Vegas.com are monitoring vital statistics as the unofficial start of summer cranks up this Memorial Day weekend. Vegas.com says there are still numerous travel deals available, including 30 percent off at Treasure Island, $150 in resort extras at The Venetian and Palazzo, 25 percent off at Stratosphere and 50 percent off at Las Vegas Hilton.
