Two charitable local acts very worthy of noting by Jersey Boys and Iron and star chef Kerry Simon:

Jersey Boys cast members Deven May, Travis Cloer, Peter Saide and Jeff Leibow made a special delivery to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas yesterday with nearly 3,000 pairs of shoes collected during the Walk Like a Man shoe drive last Saturday in honor of their 1,000th show at the Palazzo. The cast of the award-winning hit musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons presented the shoes and spent time meeting the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs. In addition to the shoes, Jersey Boys producers donated 1,000 pairs of socks.

The public was asked to bring a pair of children’s shoes to The Jersey Boys Theater at the Palazzo in exchange for a complimentary ticket to the 1,000th show at 6:30 p.m. last Saturday. The goal was to collect 1,000 pairs, but nearly 3,000 fans, some as early as 4:30 a.m., came down to show their support, as Vegas DeLuxe tweeted last Saturday after stopping by the theater in the afternoon.

When the shoe drive began at noon, fans were lined up throughout the property to donate shoes and, in exchange, see one of the most popular shows in town. The 1,000 tickets were gone by the first hour, but thanks to the Jersey Boys producers, everyone who brought a pair of shoes received a ticket to a performance through Sunday.

Over at Harrah’s, chef Kerry Simon hosted an event at KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers on Wednesday night to raise money for Three Square and to commemorate 2010 Restaurant Week. The party drew a packed house, raising enough money to provide 2,343 meals to residents who look to Three Square for assistance.

Simon mingled with guests as they sampled his Iron Chef sliders, popcorn shrimp, BLT chicken sliders, Captain Crunch milkshakes, cotton candy, assorted cupcakes and specialty cocktails at his newest restaurant. The evening ended with a raffle with items donated by Stoli, AEG Live, Macallan, Amstel Light, Cointreau, Terlato Wines International and others, with proceeds benefiting Three Square. KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers is open 11 a.m. to 6 a.m. daily.
