It’s the biggest fashion party of the year tonight as the fashion industry hosts a global celebration with numerous VIP experiences right here in Las Vegas. There are champagne wishes and caviar dreams with the stars shining at The Forum Shops in Caesars Palace, and our Merry Mayor of Mirth Oscar Goodman kicks it all off joining a bevy of models on the catwalk runway at Fashion Show mall.
There’s bubbly and taste treats at the designer boutiques of The Palazzo Shoppes, and Steve Wynn’s Wynn and Encore are featuring one-of-a-kind trunk shows. Celebrities at The Forum Shops include comedienne Rita Rudner at Elie Tahari and Anne Fontaine; Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin at Dio Beauty, Fendi and then wrapping up at Jimmy Choo; and Lorena Peril leads the Fantasy dance beauties to Guess, Judith Ripka, Y-3, Banana Republic and Thomas Pink.
Thunder From Down Under flexes their muscles and abs at Swatch, Ted Baker London and DKNY; the Student Jazz Band plays at David Yurman; Dominic Sabella is at the Tommy Bahama; and shoe leather leader Donald Pliner is at his store from 9 p.m. to nearly midnight. In all, more than 40 fashion boutiques and five restaurants at Caesars Palace have festive events.
Rita Rudner arrives on the blue carpet for the Viva Elvis world premiere at Aria in CityCenter on Feb. 19, 2010.
Over at Fashion Show, Oscar kicks it all off with a runway walk at 4 p.m. today. Fashion Show and The Shoppes at the Palazzo are designated with 250 designer boutiques as the official Las Vegas participants of Fashion’s Night Out sponsored by Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Several U.S. cities and 15 overseas capitals are taking part in Fashion’s Night Out in about a one-week span from as far away as Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia and Spain. Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue at Fashion Show and Barneys New York at the Palazzo also have their own events continuing through the weekend.
The national and global initiative celebrates fashion and retail industries worldwide, and the nonstop Las Vegas events take the annual event to a new level. The objective here not only is to celebrate fashion but to also restore consumer confidence and boost the economy -- and at the same time putting fun into shopping!
