In the usual mellow weekend after the always event-filled Labor Day Weekend on the annual social calendar, a birthday party for one longtime celebrity journalist, Fashion’s Night Out and two schedule reorganizations took center stage in Las Vegas.

Robin Leach's Birthday at Blush

Mr. Vegas DeLuxe Robin Leach celebrated his belated birthday at Blush in the Wynn on Friday night with friend, fellow birthday celebrant and stylist to the stars Michael Boychuck, and as was posted Saturday with a photo gallery, guests included Criss Angel, Vince Neil, Holly Madison, Laura Croft, Angel Porrino and Rain Andreani. Exes Madison and Angel, who are far from on friendly terms, were in the packed ultra lounge at the same time for about 8 seconds -- sip a cocktail, and you missed it!

Fashion’s Night Out on Friday and all weekend long drew, among others, the Aussie hunks from Thunder From Down Under, the sexy seductresses from Fantasy, Rita Rudner and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, who is overseeing British crooner Matt Goss’s career here in Las Vegas.

Neil and his curvaceous date for the night also made an appearance at Hustler Club’s grand opening, which brought out owner and Hustler mogul Larry Flynt once again. And there was even a concert, too, with Collective Soul poolside at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Fright Night Live concert series.

Saturday started with Grammy-winning Sheryl Crow’s postponement at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel due to illness, while actor and Extra and Miss America Pageant host Mario Lopez’s bachelor party festivities planned for The Bank in the Bellagio were interrupted by the birth of his first child, a girl, with Broadway dancer and baby mama Courtney Mazza.

Celebrity sightings included Lady Antebellum singer Charles Kelley and his wife Cassie at the late performance of Peepshow in Planet Hollywood on Saturday night; Dave Chappelle, with two friends, at Tao in The Venetian on Saturday night keeping it chill with coffee and water; actor Matt Dallas at Lavo in the Palazzo with eight friends enjoying Grey Goose cocktails; actor Jim Caviezel at Jersey Boys in the Palazzo; and astronaut Buzz Aldrin and actor Christian Slater at Cirque du Soleil’s Viva Elvis at MGM CityCenter’s Aria, with Slater also dining at Eva Longoria Parker’s Beso at MGM CityCenter’s Crystals.

Last night was the premiere of magician Teller’s Play Dead, attended by Leach and yours truly (story to come this week). Play Dead is scheduled to premiere off-Broadway in New York in November. And last night’s MTV Video Music Awards in L.A. was dominated by Lady Gaga, who swept the night with eight awards and raised eyebrows with her always provocative fashions, including a meat dress. As in T-bone. However, Caesars Palace headliner and award presenter Cher stole the show. Lady Gaga, whose concerts are always sold out here, returns to MGM Grand Garden Arena in March.

This week

Funnyman Louie Anderson’s Louie Anderson LOL kicks into high gear at Palace Station; Holly’s World star Porrino debuts in Peepshow tonight as Madison goes on vacation for one week with gal pal Croft; Dirty Nasty, aka Simon Rex, Andre Legacy and Beardo host at Tao on Worship Thursdays; and all-time favorite comedienne Margaret Cho is at The Pearl in the Palms on Friday, Carlos Mencia is at Treasure Island on Friday, Don Henley is at Red Rock Resort on Saturday, and Michael Bolton is at Sunset Station on Saturday. Cho and Bolton are in town the weekend before their Sept. 20 premiere on Season 11 of ABC’s top-rated Dancing With the Stars, which Vegas DeLuxe will blog all season long with spoiler-alert results and photo galleries.
