Pop princess Katy Perry is having a hometown bachelorette fling in Las Vegas this weekend before tying the knot with British comedian and actor Russell Brand, and it’s R&B superstar Rihanna who is in charge of the party.
Katy’s last single soiree before marriage comes against the backdrop of Russell being arrested by LAX police after he was accused of fighting with a paparazzo. Russell, who was released on $20,000 bail, said he was defending Katy from the lensman shooting up her skirt on her way to Las Vegas.
Katy, who grew up here and whose last two songs, “California Gurls” and “Teenage Dream,” have hit No. 1, has shot her hit videos here and often visits her grandmother, who lives here and gave her blessing to the engagement. The bachelorettes, and some guys, hung out at the Hard Rock Hotel and were seen playing there in the pool yesterday afternoon with large oversized pink toys.
Then last night, the 25-strong entourage arrived in a stretch limousine for the early performance of Cirque du Soleil’s Ka at MGM Grand. Before leaving the theater, Rihanna and Katy spent time backstage with the cast, where they posed for photographs, played with costumes and expressed their amazement at the endurance of the cast for performing two shows each night.
Then it was dinner at Ago in the Hard Rock Hotel, partying at XS in the Encore and finally strip club Sapphire, where a blonde stripper danced for Katy -- and then they all went off to a private VIP lounge, where the curtains were closed from our spywitnesses.
We are monitoring the partying superstars, and we’ll update their activities later right here at Vegas DeLuxe.
