Entertainment legend and Las Vegas resident Wayne Newton and his wife Kathleen McCrone Newton hosted a neighborhood meeting yesterday at the La Quinta Inn south of McCarran Airport off Sunset to discuss proposed changes being made to their 38-acre ranch home, Casa de Shenandoah, including a commercial tour and museum, with many neighbors voicing their dissent.

However, there isn’t much residents can do to stop the plans from becoming reality, according to Senior Editor John Katsilometes, who posted his report from the meeting in his The Kats Report on the Las Vegas Sun this morning.

Katsilometes said in his column, “The commercial development in Newton’s plans is the parcel across from Shenandoah, which already is zoned for such. That’s where the theater and museum will be located, and where ticketed customers will board buses for the tour of the ranch across Sunset.”

When an audience member asked for a show of hands in support of the plan, not one went up, Katsilometes reported.
