The usual music, film and TV stars-studded weekends in Las Vegas were given a bigger helping of sports than usual the past three days, with the NASCAR Smiths 350 Truck Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the 2010 Mr. Olympia at The Orleans and Rob Dyrdek’s Street League Skateboarding Championships at the Thomas & Mack Center adding to a jam-packed events calendar.
Rapper Big Boi kicked off the hotter-than-usual weekend with an outdoor performance at Palms Pool & Bungalows for Ditch Fridays. Jenni “JWoww” Farley of MTV’s omnipresent Jersey Shore and her boyfriend Roger Mathews hosted the nighttime festivities at Jet in The Mirage in their matching denim and spray tans.
Vanity in the Hard Rock Hotel was the pre-funk spot for Dyrdek’s skateboarding competition and drew skateboarding legend Dave Duncan and many others. The competition Saturday featured current Dancing With the Stars competitor Audrina Patridge of MTV’s The Hills fame as a special guest. Peepshow’s Peep Diva star Cheaza celebrated her belated birthday and new single “Live for Tonight” with family and friends, including cast members, at Koi next to the adult burlesque’s Chi Theater in Planet Hollywood late Friday night into Saturday morning.
Hunky TV, film and theater actor Taye Diggs caused a stir when he checked in at the Palazzo’s VIP lounge on Saturday for a guys weekend. Diggs’ weekend included a stop at Tao Beach at The Venetian with his sexy smile still intact. Also out on the town: actress Rachael Leigh Cook at Blush in the Wynn for a friend’s bachelorette party and Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison and Austin “Chumlee” Russell from The History Channel hit Pawn Stars at Rain in the Palms with a group of friends.
Cheaza’s Peepshow sidekick and Holly’s World star Holly Madison and former Fantasy and Baywatch bombshell Angelica Bridges added sex appeal to the NASCAR Smiths 350 Truck Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway won by rookie Austin Dillon in only his second race of the season. Holly’s World co-stars Laura Croft and Angel Porrino joined Madison on the Maverick Helicopters ride from McCarran Airport to LVMS.
TV actresses Dania Ramirez and Jessica Lucas celebrated separately while in town. Ramirez, of Entourage and Heroes fame, was the hostess with the mostess at Wet Republic at MGM Grand on Saturday, while Lucas, of 90210, Melrose Place and soon-to-be Friends With Benefits fame, celebrated her 25th birthday at Festivino, Azure Luxury Pool and Lavo, all at the Palazzo, with friends.
Las Vegas resident and real-life platinum blond Hercules Jay Cutler is now a four-time Mr. Olympia, as he captured his fourth title in five years at The Orleans on Saturday and celebrated after the competition at Blush with a large entourage that included fellow bodybuilders Ronnie Coleman and Toney Freeman. Will Cutler go for No. 5 next year?
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino finished the party weekend yesterday playing host and deejay at Rehab in the Hard Rock Hotel. The Situation and Patridge resume the competition on Week 2 of ABC’s DWTS tonight with their pro partners Karina Smirnoff and Tony Dovolani, respectively. Smirnoff has said that her relationship with The Situation is like a brother and sister, with some underlying flirtatiousness. A little awkward, no? Check back later today for a preview of tonight’s competition.
