Music legend Rod Stewart announced yesterday that he is going to perform eight shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from Nov. 6-21. These concerts follow a record-breaking summer tour with 33 sold-out stops, including performances in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Russia, United Arab Emirates and Israel.

The blond, spiky-haired, tan and raspy-voiced rocker for the first time will play all of his greatest hits spanning his 50-year career in the music venue built for Celine Dion that also has hosted residencies by Sir Elton John, Jerry Seinfeld and, currently, Cher. Caesars Palace and AEG Live is presenting Stewart’s special run of eight shows.

“For some years now, AEG Live has been wanting me to do a residency show in Las Vegas. I decided it was time to give it a try, but I thought, ‘First, let’s try two weeks instead of two years, though,’ ” Stewart said in a statement. “Who knows what this could lead to? I know that my band, background singers and I are going to enjoy performing in such an intimate setting and having the chance for the fans to be in close proximity while hearing all the hits.”

Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. and may be purchased at The Colosseum Box Office, by calling (800) 745-3000 or online at Ticketmaster.com (keyword “Caesars Palace”). The concert dates are Nov. 6-7, 10, 14, 17-18 and 20-21, with tickets prices at $69, $99, $150 and $225, plus fees, for the 8 p.m. show.

Stewart, hailed by James Brown as “the best white soul singer,” is one of the most successful performers of all time, selling at estimated 250 million albums. His hits over the years include “Maggie May,” “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright”), “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” “Passion,” “Infatuation,” “Some Guys Have All the Luck,” “Love Touch,” “My Heart Can’t Tell You No,” “Downtown Train,” “Rhythm of My Heart,” “All for Love” (a No. 1 hit with Bryan Adams and Sting) and “Have I Told You Lately.”
