Photos: Centerfold Claire Sinclair says romance with Hef’s son is over

Playboy centerfold and Playmate of the Year contender Claire Sinclair confirmed Sunday night that her near 6-month romance with Hugh Hefner’s 21-year-old son Marston has ended. “On the rocks,” she told me.

The love match had begun before I interviewed her in late September for her October debut in Crazy Horse Paris at MGM Grand. At 19, she became the Miss October Playmate of the Month and was the youngest ever featured Crazy Horse Paris starlet, following in the footsteps of Dita Von Teese and Carmen Electra in the guest role.

They went public with the romance on the night of her premiere at MGM Grand. Claire, who posed in her naked pictorial as a Bettie Page look-alike, began dividing her time between Las Vegas and L.A., and subsequently palled up with Holly Madison and joined the cast of Holly’s World. She had previously appeared on The Girls Next Door.

Claire, who will appear for a second time as a featured entertainer in Crazy Horse Paris this spring, had been offered a longer contract but had to nix it in the event Playboy readers selected her as 2011 Playmate of the Year. She is currently in first place in the voting.

Since semi-moving to Las Vegas, the ever-smiling brunette landed a spokesmodel role with the Bettie Page fashion line and retail stores anchored at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile. She bears an uncanny resemblance to the late pinup queen. Marston had been a regular visitor while the couple was dating, and I’d talked with them less than two weeks ago sharing a romantic dinner at STK at The Cosmopolitan.

Marston, 20, is the eldest son of Hef when he was married to 1989 Playmate of the Year Kimberly Conrad. The 84-year-old magazine publisher and pinup empire mogul became engaged to 24-year-old Playmate Crystal Harris over Christmas -- and Marston had told VegasDeLuxe.com, “I’m very happy for him. She will be a great stepmother. I’m all for anything that makes my father happy.”

I learned the breakup occurred over the weekend, and Claire put on a brave face under the spotlights and in photographer flashes to walk the Fashion Show mall runway Sunday to unveil the spring collection and launch the Bettie Page beachwear collection.

Attending Sunday night’s screening party at Extra Lounge in Planet Hollywood for the Season 2 kickoff of Holly’s World, Claire told me: “Marston ended the romance. I thought we were doing well together and were happy. He’s off to college and thought it best to end it now. I was surprised and sad, but I am keeping busy with work here in Vegas.”

Claire’s girl posse of Holly and co-stars Angel Porrino and Laura Croft were vocal about the split. “He dumped her. It wasn’t very nice. But she’ll be OK. She has us, and she’s keeping very busy here in Vegas. She’ll be back at Crazy Horse soon and by then completely over it and enjoying single life again,” they said -- almost in unison!
