A new trance-house album isn’t the only thing hitting U.S. shores in the near future, as Dutch DJ Sander Kleinenberg is pulling into Las Vegas this month and bringing his digital dance beats to the Wynn. “I had the pleasure of DJ’ing there a few months back … loved it! A nightclub in front of you, and a sexy pool behind you … great mix,” Kleinenberg said.
Co-produced with Josh Gabriel, Kleinenberg’s new album 5K is a collection of beats and collaborations that will have fans dancing and feeling upbeat from the first to last tracks. “This album was a great experience, and I hope, of course, people will find a soundtrack on there for their lives,” Kleinenberg said.
With the new release soon to hit stores, the Dutchman is touring the world on his 5K Tour playing the best possible music for crowds that want to get inspired. From his mid-teen years, Kleinenberg began learning the DJ scene and evolving into the dance music DJ he is today.
“It was new and exciting, and I realized the role of the DJ would now be more of a composer putting the puzzle together for a great night than that of a guy playing other people’s,” he said. “This way of DJ’ing never gets old because you never actually finish a night thinking you have done the perfect journey or flow. There is always room for improvement, and it’s never perfect, let alone the 5,000 records that come out every week that keep you inspired.”
Since his track-releasing streak in the early 1990s, he has continued to climb the DJ ladder and has founded two record labels, Little Mountain Recordings and This Is. “They are nothing but platforms for myself and my roster of friends who write and create music. I think a modern artist should have his or her own platform where he or she can create within without too many hassles and outside interference. So that’s what these labels are.”
Dutchman Kraak & Smaak, Dennis and Dinand from Kane, Miss Montreal, Ursula Rucker, Ace Reign and string quartet Metropole Orchestra make guest appearances on 5K. “I loved working with Miss Montreal. She has a beautiful voice and delivered the vocals to ‘Wish I Said’ in such a pretty way.”
The DJ will be heating up Steve Wynn’s clubs very soon -- Encore Beach Club on Sunday and XS on June 13. Kleinenberg will be spinning many of his new tracks for fans to enjoy.
“There is a funny thing about doing an album and being a DJ, you see, we are supposed to bring something exciting and fresh every time we play, so it is a little against my nature to play tracks for too long,” he said. “Vegas for me is always a mad rollercoaster. I feel that if you plan too much, it kind of ruins the purpose, so I usually just go with the flow. As always, my fans can expect me to give them 200 percent.”
