“Memorable!” That was the one-word summary -- plus an air-drawn exclamation point -- from R&B superstar Drake last night as he celebrated the opening of Chateau nightclub atop the Sugar Factory at the Paris. It was the second consecutive night of fan mayhem on The Strip, as there were just as many people packing the sidewalk for Drake as were there 24 hours earlier for Kim Kardashian when she celebrated Sugar Factory’s opening.
Everybody agreed that it was an over-the-top grand opening celebration with Drake’s performance. Chateau simply exploded with excitement when Drake went into the DJ booth and hit the turntables to spin a dance mix for partygoers. He then took the mic and sang “Up All Night,” and, mid-performance, walked over to the VIP area in a balcony overlooking the nightclub, where he sang a mash-up of his hits “Over” and “Miss Me,” and then returned to the DJ booth to finish his set.

Before the show, Drake told our media mob that the night would be memorable. He said he was excited to open The Strip’s hottest new nightclub and promised to bring an energy Las Vegas had never seen, and he didn’t disappoint. DJ Samantha Ronson kicked off her residency with an ’80s and ’90s mix that had the crowd dancing, and Havana Brown, the featured DJ from Britney Spears’ Circus tour, took over the turntables after Drake’s performance. Nick Cannon, who kicked off Chateau’s preview party Friday, returned to the DJ booth last night for a second set.

Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints shared bottles of vodka with a large group of friends in celebration of his 26th birthday. Director Brett Ratner, Stephen Cooper and Shaun Phillips of the San Diego Charges, Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions, Holly’s World starlet Angel Porrino and That ’70s Star Wilmer Valderrama also were at Chateau. Reggie also dined at Sugar Factory American Brasserie.
We’ll be back later with more words of wisdom from Drake despite the fact that constant shouting of his name from frantic fans drowned him out.
