The Hard Rock Hotel kicked off the summer pool season with a 1-2-3-4 bang of music over the weekend, as DJ Pauly D, Pitbull, Fitz and the Tantrums and Cobra Starship served as the party-like-a-Hard-Rock-star hosts. The weekend marked the premiere of Beachlife, four days of poolside partying.

Summer Camp Fridays with electronic duo Dragonette (they’re the vocals for DJ Martin Solveig’s smash dance hit “Hello”) kicked it off. On Saturday, Beachlife launched the Nectar Music Festival with Basshunter, Hyper Crush, Jump Smokers, DJ Vice, Richard Beynon, Jane Bang and Rock It! Scientists.

Saturday night, Fitz and the Tantrums took the spotlight for the poolside concert series Soundwaves.

The main attraction of the weekend was the Season 9 return of Rehab, and international singer-songwriter, rapper and producer Pitbull, sporting a white dress shirt, a white jacket and light-pink slacks(!) in the sizzling sun, treated the daytime revelers to his hits “International Love” and “Give Me Everything.” (Incidentally, Las Vegas-reared Ne-Yo, one of the collaborators on “Everything,” was on the Strip at the same time at Encore Beach Club’s season opening with DJ Tiesto.)

As the scantily clad crowd cheered and sang along, Pitbull launched into his new single “Back in Time” from the upcoming “Men in Black III.” The party concluded with a set by DJ Pauly D (“Jersey Shore” and “The DJ Pauly D Project”), who sported a black basketball jersey and his signature smile, blown-out hair, tats and big and tan guns. Fireworks marked the debut of Beachlife on both nights.

Cobra Starship at Relax Mondays

Relax Mondays returned for Season 5 with a set by Cobra Starship. If you never thought you’d see frontman Gabe Saporta in a tank top and red swim trunks, that day has come.

Thanks to Erik Kabik and Scott Harrison for their Beachlife launch photo galleries. It’s going to be a long, hot summer in which partygoers will need a little Rehab and Relax-ation time.
