New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was presented with the Super Bowl XLVI MVP Award in Indianapolis on Monday, and contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was onsite for the presentation that also included NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Giants coach Tom Coughlin.
Tom reported: “I was given special access this Monday morning after the Super Bowl in the green room with New York Giants quarterback and Super Bowl XLVI MVP Eli Manning. He is so genuine, humble, but very proud to have led his team to another Super Bowl championship.
“About this ‘elite quarterback status’ that the media has been poking him with ... his comment this morning was, ‘I just try to be the best I can be to help my team win.’
“After spending a few moments with Eli this morning and him being so gracious to sign some Super Bowl footballs for Taste of the NFL … he was whisked away with Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the media presentation of the MVP trophy all at the media center in Indy.”
The Giants defeated the New England Patriots, 21-17, in Indianapolis on Sunday, and the 111.3 million viewers for the big game set a record, as did Madonna’s halftime show that drew 114 million viewers.
