Singer Mary J. Blige not only celebrated New Year’s Eve at the Tropicana on Saturday night, but the nine-time Grammy Award winner also commemorated the opening of RPM Nightclub, the former space of Club Nikki. The “Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul,” looking beautiful in a white dress, counted down to the New Year with the crowd before launching into her hits “Real Love” and the No. 1 smash “Family Affair.”
DJs Dan, Christopher Lawrence and Donald Glaude kept the packed dance floor moving until early morning, and the revelers included singer Al B. Sure and “American Idol” Season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis, who was there to support friend DJ Dan.
Tropicana also was one of the locations shooting fireworks off rooftops, and partygoers ventured outside to the former Nikki Beach to watch the spectacular display. Next up at RPM: the debut of industry night Starfkr and Jordin Sparks’ birthday celebration Saturday night. (Lewis was runner-up to Sparks in Season 6).
