Australian pop vocal quartet and Imperial Palace headliners Human Nature are hitting the road in March for their first U.S. tour a few weeks after their new album, “The Motown Record,” is released March 6. The first date of “Human Nature: The Motown Show Presented by Smokey Robinson” for brothers Michael and Andrew Tierney, Toby Allen and Phil Burton is March 24 at Detroit’s Fisher Theater.
“The Motown Record” features the group’s versions of “Baby I Need Your Loving,” “My Girl” “Uptight (Everything’s Alright)” and “Stop! In the Name of Love,” among other Motown classics. Robinson, who will not appear on the tour, accompanied Human Nature on the group’s recent PBS special, “Human Nature Sings Motown With Special Guest Smokey Robinson.”
The list of accomplishments of the group, who formed while in high school in Sydney in 1989, include opening for Celine Dion and the late Michael Jackson and performing during the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000.
After Detroit, the tour stops are Cleveland (March 27); Indianapolis (March 31); Minneapolis (April 3); Pittsburgh (April 6); St. Louis (April 10); Houston (April 14); Atlanta (April 21); Raleigh, N.C. (April 23); Baltimore (April 26); Philadelphia (April 28); Providence, R.I. (May 2) and Hampton, N.H. (May 3).
Tickets go on sale Friday. No official word on what happens to the Human Nature Theater while the boys are on tour and after the tour ends. Their resident headliner show at I.P. began in May 2009.
