Rocker Sammy Hagar helped “Iron Chef” winner Kerry Simon celebrate the second anniversary of KGB (Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers) at Harrah’s and wound up mixing four new cocktail drinks with his new Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum. Believe it or not, Sammy even has an Adult Milkshake that he says is the true breakfast of rock gods. Guitarist Joe Satriani, from Sammy’s band Chickenfoot, joined the party, too.
Sammy told me that his rum comes from sugar grown only on Maui, and his plantation there is just 8 miles from his own 13-acre estate where he grows organic Maui gold pineapples. Fruit-flavored rums are next up to join the pure white rum line, which is such bestseller that he’s backordered 4,700 cases.
Kerry, known as the Rock ’n’ Roll Chef, told me that to mark his second anniversary, he’s added a Burger of the Month to the menu: “If you eat a new one from January every month through November, we’ll give you December’s free. But for a real whopper, we can also serve all 12 together -- and that’s free if somebody can finish it.”
KGB has proved so popular that he will now ramp up with outlets in cities across the country and overseas. The star chef said: “I don’t know how well our KGB theme will go in Moscow, but everywhere else, it’s a winner. We’ve become the secret burger hangout on the Strip for rockers and beauty pageant contestants alike this year.”
Sammy will be honored with the Voice of Rock Award, as we reported Monday, on Aug. 26 at the Vegas Rocks Magazine Awards at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel, with Whitesnake’s David Coverdale receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Kerry, who has L.A. Market at the Ritz Carlton and Simon here at Palms Place, in L.A. and Atlantic City, is getting ready to open a Simon at the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
