Oscar-winning star and entrepreneur Robert De Niro is setting up shop on the Strip in more ways than one. Today, chef Nobu Matsuhisa unveils a sneak peek inside his Nobu restaurant and boutique hotel set to open at Caesars Palace this fall. The actor is Nobu’s financial partner in his worldwide restaurant group and worked on the designs and furnishings of their new flagship Las Vegas property.
Now comes news that Robert is to team with Michael Douglas for the new film “Last Vegas” to be partly filmed here, and doubtless he’ll use the opportunity to have the first Nobu hotel and Strip restaurant featured prominently.
Filmmaker Jon Turtletaub (“National Treasure”) will direct the movie from Dan Fogelman’s script for CBS Films. International sales for the project began Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival as first details were revealed.

“Last Vegas” is a comedy that features four retired Baby Boomers who have to throw a Las Vegas bachelor weekend blowout for a reluctant groom who has agreed to finally settle down after years of being single. “Last Vegas” is his one final bachelor blast before he marries a woman half his age.
Robert plays the role of Paddy Connelly, a party-adverse individual who reluctantly jets to Vegas at the request of his friends. He and Michael Douglas’ character wind up feuding over a girl they both fell for when they were younger.
No date yet announced for when cameras will roll here, but it’s expected that cast and crew will be here this fall -- perfectly timed for the opening of the Nobu venues. We’ll post a report this weekend of my tour with Nobu of his new restaurant and hotel.
