Night bites: Enter “The Tomb”

The Executive Lounge business and social mixer—until recently held Tuesday nights at Lavo—will re-emerge from its hiatus on August 4 at the Stirling Club, the event somewhat darkly re-branded as “The Tomb.” “We have elevated the TEL [The Executive Lounge] brand to act as the primary event and lifestyle brand,” says Executive Lounge co-founder Jimmy Foster, “which will continue to produce branded events and act as the physical URL (soon to be a brand new online social networking community).” Yes, ... Big changes for two PMG venues

“Contrary to rumors, Social House is open, and will continue to be open and operating,” so says a rep for Pure Management Group with regards to recently published reports of a move for TI’s Social House restaurant. Rave on?

Ravers never say die! And they never give up, either. It appeared that Vegas’ underground dance music parties were over again, but the events may have only been hiding in sketchy warehouses, dusty downtown missions or secret locations in the desert, just the way the scene was intended to be. The first rave I attended was in 1999. Located in a Vegas warehouse somewhere downtown near the railroad tracks, it was everything I expected it to be after my roommate ... Read more...

ND’s the closed: Viashow Inc. declares bankruptcy

Fuego, ND’s Fuego, ND’s The Club and the future ND’s Space: all done for since parent company Viashow Inc. filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on June 1, reportedly owing various clients, skilled workers and staff over $1.5 million. According to a former employee, owner Nicole “ND” Durr’s four-wall deal with The Rio has been reportedly bringing in between $15,000 and $30,000 per month (net) since the club opened February 12, not enough to float her multiple, simultaneous projects. Is it live or is it history?: Five questions with Vibe Elevator Rico DeLargo

Why do you call yourself a “Vibe Elevator,” as opposed to a trumpet-player? When I play a venue I watch the crowd and analyze the energy in the room. When the time is right, I jump up onto something (bar, speaker, etc.) and start going off with my trumpet. Instantaneously, the vibe in the room goes up as people realize that what they are hearing is live and not what the DJ is spinning. Before I appear there is a ... Read more...

The music? House. The vibe? Chill. The amenities? Out of my price range.

There was a severe lack of silicone and tribal tattoos on Saturday. The music wasn’t making people grind like an X-rated frat party and you could—gasp!—carry on a conversation with someone two feet away. But wasn’t this technically the grand opening of a “pool party”? Xania’s sneak peek of the Palazzo’s Azure alluded this wouldn’t be a “party,” per se. Instead, I found a welcome reprieve from the boozed-up, chlorinated, simulated orgies of days past (and present and likely future). ... Read more...

Pete Wentz may be 30-years-old, but that doesn’t mean the Fall Out Boy has to act like it. Relax pool party kicks off today at the Hard Rock Pool

In a town like Las Vegas, we often need a day of R&R to recover from all the R&R endured over the weekend. While the first set of Rs stands for “rest and relaxation,” the second pair includes one R that could stand for a range of things: “rum,” “rye,” “Riesling,” “[vodka] Red Bull” or “Rolling Rock,” for example. The final “R,” however, definitely stands for Rehab. Though Snoop Dogg helped reopen the city’s most notorious adults-only pool party over ... Read more...
