Flight of the cocktailers: Where the girls of summer go

By Xania Woodman

Former Wet Republic cocktail server Kailee Gielgens may have left Las Vegas behind, but she's bringing a little bit of the Strip to Park City, Utah.

Ever wonder where the bronzed beauties who dish up the frozen treats poolside migrate for the winter? On a weekend jaunt to Park City, Utah, I ran into former Wet Republic cocktail server (and Tabu poster girl) Kailee Gielgens, working her first shift at actor Danny Masterson’s Downstairs club.

Squashing plans to visit Salt Lake’s Club Vegas in favor of a Snow Patrol concert at Utah Valley University—a most obedient crowd—I later hit up former Las Vegan and 3Four Group promoter Dustin Esson’s new Saturday Night Set party at Downstairs. Esson has assembled a very “Vegas” lineup for Set’s first three weeks out of the gate with Masterson (aka DJ Mom Jeans) inaugurating Esson’s new night, to be followed by Dirt Nasty and Samantha Ronson; Gielgens should feel right at home!

After 10+ years in Vegas, Gielgens just this week traded her swimsuit for the snowboarding lifestyle, thus fulfilling the fifth of her five goals for 2009, those being to complete her communications degree, visit Europe, buy a Subaru, get a puppy and say sayonara to Sin City. But she’s imported her hulking platform cocktailing boots and micro-dresses with her. "I’m bringing a little bit of Vegas to Park City,” says the petite 24-year old with the down-to-earth attitude that is sure to make her the après ski toast of her newly-adopted town.
