Time for indulging in audio aphrodisiacs. That’s what DJ/producer Lightknife, aka Pedi Amiri, wants listeners to experience with his music.

“The thing that I realized about music and the things that I like about music is while the genres can vary from trip-hop to rock to industrial, downtempo and electronica, it all has this cohesive sound that is slightly melancholic and also dark in nature,” says Amiri. “I try to bring a similar mood into dance music.”

Creating dark melodies and cinematic, moody tracks that can still drive a dancefloor, Amiri cites influences such as Massive Attack, Nine Inch Nails, Sneaker Pimps and Radiohead. “Lightknife is all the creative elements I’ve had in my life, focused into one character,” says Amiri.

“I’ve been really going around the board with genres,” says the Las Vegas native who incorporates everything from “spooky sounds” to samples from the ’70s flick Helter Skelter.

Amiri is currently working not only on new productions but his new electronic label Boom Music alongside Digital Boy and chats about them, plus audible affection and sexuality in music in the free Nocturnal Admissions podcast downloadable here.

Lightknife's original productions featured in this podcast (available on Soundcloud.com):

1. "The End Is Near (Vocal Mix)" featuring D++

2."Audible Affection"

3."This Is”

3."Start (Lightkinfe Live Edit)”
