If you managed to get in the door at Vanity nightclub for P Diddy’s epic grand-opening party January 2, you probably saw a blinging, singing mess of celebrities crowded on stage around Clinton Sparks’ DJ booth. Sundance Day 1 Recap: First things first!

The Sundance Film Festival is officially on following last night’s mondo opening party at the Legacy Lodge, helmed by none other than Vegas’ own DJ R.O.B. It was a ticketed affair and therefore a tad more diverse than the underground, “unaffiliated” party scene I so much prefer. But the sponsors’ Stella Artois and Absolut were flowing, and, after a few of those, these self-styled critics and the bona fide variety were cutting an integrated rug before the veteran Vegas tuntablist. Oh Geez… They swarmed around us like moths to a flame. Under construction: Skybar

Coming to you live-ish from an undisclosed location within the Hard Rock’s new HRH Tower, I am pleased to report that work is continuing — yes, even on a Saturday — on the soon-to-open Skybar, arriving in April. The first floor of the two-story building, complete with restaurant and gaming downstairs, opens out onto the hotel-guest-only new Beach Club, also under construction, and also arriving in April.
