Perry Farrell will celebrate his 50th birthday tonight with a little rock n’ roll reunion.
All of the original members of his bands, Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros, will be there to make history.
“It will be the first time that Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros have played together, and it will be the first time Porno for Pyros will be playing together for, I don’t know, maybe 12 years or something like that,” Farrell said.
Calendar
- Perrypalooza at Bare
- April 11, 9 p.m., $100.
- Bare Pool Lounge at the Mirage
- Pool Guide
- Bare
Rounding out the night’s musical Farrell trifecta is his wife, Etty Lau Farrell, who forms the other half of the husband-wife act that is otherwise known as Satellite Party.
And best of all, “Perrypalooza” at the Mirage is open to the public.
Just 400 tickets were printed for tonight’s poolside party at Bare, and for a cool $100, plus taxes and service fees, fans can toast the versatile birthday boy alongside a handful of his celebrity friends.
“My wife insists on throwing these big parties,“ Farrell said. “Etty invited Slash and Tom Morello and a bunch of other people.”
In addition to the iconic Guns N' Roses/Velvet Revlover and Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave axe men, Billy Idol, the Cult’s Matt Sorum and Billy Morrison and Sen Dog and Bobo from Cypress Hill will also be there. This, of course, is in addition to Farrell’s bandmates Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins, Martyn Lenoble and Peter Distefano.
Mickey Avalon, Juliette Lewis and perennial Vegas party boy Mark McGrath are also on the guest list.
Farrell, who turned 50 on March 29, said he is looking forward to a “hot” show.
“Jane’s Addiction, basically, is going to be there in front of only 400 people so that’s pretty hot,” he said, calling Bare the perfect, “very small, warm, outdoor venue” for the party.
Farrell said he doesn’t mind working during his party.
“I don’t think of it as work; I love singing,” he said, adding, “It’s my birthday, I can sing all night if I feel like it.”
He is also looking forward to hitting the road with Jane’s Addiction, which he refers to as his “classic car,” this spring.
The band, which has been around, in various incarnations, since 1985, will play the Pearl on May 18, as part of the Nine Inch Nails-Jane’s Addiction “NIN/JA” tour. Farrell will also play closing day at Coachella next weekend.
