New album from Slow to Surface, listen now!
Slow to Surface’s MySpace reads: “We are a band. We play music and it's good.”
Slow to Surface, who have been plying their eardrum-pleasing trade around town for nine years, will officially release their first full-length album This Is The Reason We Do This tomorrow night at Wasted Space. You can listen to it in its entirety here before heading to their show, which promises to deliver since the band is known for its overpowering stage presence.
“We continually try to move forward and think ahead,” explains Zach Saucier, STS’ lead guitarist. “We’ve done a lot of cool things back in the day, but nothing really compares to the achievement of this new album.”

STS' specialty is strong, individualistic modern rock. “I'm Gonna Leave” is an aggressive break-up song while the melodious “Fell Into" is soulful and haunting.
“Fell Into” is one of the 11 new songs on Reason, but the track is actually eight years old. “We recorded it a few times but it never came out right,” says Saucier. “We finally nailed it on this record. … We put a lot of work into that one.”
STS doesn’t do anything half-assed. The album took four years to record. “A lot of blood and sweat and tears went into this thing.

“We’ve grown up by leaps and bounds,” Saucier continues. “This album is a representation of how mature we’ve gotten over the last four years, so everything is heavily based on quality songwriting and making sure the albums is cohesive as one product, one unit.”
At their Wasted Space show the band will bring their new songs to high volume life, along with some old favorites and their very first electric cover song. This Is The Reason We Do This will be for sale for $11 (also available on iTunes, CDBaby, MySpace and Vcast).
“Once you hear the album, you can’t deny that it’s a decent body of work. We’re hoping for regional touring and some heavy rotation in independent markets. It’s been getting a good response, so were just keeping our fingers crossed.”
