Leopold: A (truthful) tall tale

By Spencer Patterson

And the award for Band That Needs to Come Come Back to Town, And Soon goes to … Leopold and His Fiction.

The San Francisco trio won some new admirers on Friday night, filling up the intimate Club Aruba with a raging set of gritty blues-rock that left a buzzing crowd wanting more. Much more.

Though Neon Reverb co-organizer Thirry Harlin wasn’t there to witness it (he was working the Bunkhouse), he probably wasn’t surprised to hear about Leopold’s new Las Vegas legend. Harlin’s prior friendship with frontman Daniel James was the primary factor in the band’s inclusion in this weekend’s festival lineup.

After the show, Harlin’s partner, James Woodbridge, was already plotting to bring the group back. “They’re my new favorite band!” he exclaimed. “I’d like to have them headline a night at the Bunkhouse.”
