Signs of the times

By Jeremy Adams

Random signage of the Neon Reverb weekend:

--“Shamrockabilly” – Seen on placard sitting below the feet of Craic House drummer/vocalist Danny Oberbeck, as the Claremont, Calif.-based-trio played a set at Las Vegas Country Saloon on Saturday. The term perfectly describes this group’s Irish brand of old-time Americana, which culminated with Oberbeck playing the National Anthem on a kazoo.

--“Fight against the CPU in this single player mode.” – Seen on projection screen inside Beauty Bar as the resident DJ struggled with early technical difficulties.

--“DROP ACID NOW” – Seen inscribed on the front shirt pocket of Easysleeves bassist Tee Jay Dourbet, as the heavily, ahem, “experimental” psych-pop outfit opened for Akron/Family Friday night.
