Immediate Family

By Spencer Patterson

Orlando’s Strangers Family Band took its Neon Reverb appearance seriously Thursday night. The five-piece band’s stage kit featured psychedelic projections, an array of colored lights and a Plexiglass drum cage. Shame only a handful of early-arrivers were on hand to witness it all.

The Floridians, stopping in Vegas en route to South by Southwest, drew the unlucky assignment of kicking off Beauty Bar’s five-band bill, beginning indoors not long after the Downtown bar opened its doors around 9 p.m. Soon after the group’s retro, Doors-y sounds ceased, the party revved up out back, despite unseasonably cold temperatures.

Free downloads of both Strangers Family Band EPs are available at strangersfamilyband.bandcamp.com.
