Recent blog creates a black hole of drama

By Justice

As some of the readers noticed, the recent item about strip-club credit card fraud had been briefly removed from this Web site. This is not by reason of censorship. Actually, I get a great deal of freedom in choosing the material for Stripped. The editors simply honored my request to temporarily remove it because, as the expression goes, “sh*t hit the fan” at that strip club. Practically the entire staff of the club read printed copies of the item and I got dragged into a black hole of drama after it was linked back to me. I even got an anonymous catty phone call. I’ve never had so much attention in my life. I’m quiet and polite. I smile and observe. I stay under the radar. I’ve made some solid enemies now, though. You’re nobody ‘til somebody hates you, I suppose.

In the days since the item was originally posted, an investigation into the credit card scam came to a head and several people working at that club have been either suspended or fired for their involvement. Who knew there were repercussions for things like abusing innocent people? I’d say it’s a slap on the wrist for a thing like grand larceny. Which, as defined by Nevada law, was exactly what was going on.

I can’t help but to have a natural desire to feel a bit guilty about calling these people ugly thieves. Individually, most of the thieves were really very nice to me. I even defended some of them when other girls said mean things about them. I should remember, however, that people who abuse other people are still bad people. Also, I still stand by my belief that when someone is an ugly person on the inside, their personality makes them less attractive in all ways, even physically. I’ll try not to feel too guilty about calling them out. Like I said in the original item on credit card fraud, guilt is a useless emotion. The thieves can certainly attest to that.

you should not feel guilty justice because you did the right thing. you probably helped the industry there in vegas by pointing out crime which led to it being stopped. i respect you much more for standing up and blowing the whistle

Your pen name makes more sense every day. Congrats for writing that in the first place. Shame on those who gave you grief. Business is slow enough in the clubs without any additional bad publicity.

I hope you keep on writing. Your column is the most fun and human part of the Weekly since Sonja left.

Good job I was so sick of seeing them rip people off on a nightly basis and stealing so many customers. You did the right thing and we all thank you and the others involved for finally blowing the whistle on this major crime. Karma does exist after all.

UNLV must have a helluva journalism department. We all knew you are a good writer, but this article shows the makings of an investigative reporter.
Keep up the good work!

Don't you feel guilty.....not for a minute. Those people took a chance and they knew they were doing wrong....laws are created for a reason and to consciously break a law is a risk they took, and they lost. Too bad, so sad. It is not easy to "do the right thing" and it isn't always popular either......however, in the end, you can hold you head up and know that you didn't participate by looking the other way. KUDOS! In the end, we are all as good as our morals and ethics and if we are not at least good to each other .....then what are we?

Hmmm...yes I "heard" that Glitter Gulch was under new management from a very recent visit; and, also heard about some of those ex-dancers who were making $1000's (for the items described by MrsG)... the other girls we're wondering HOW or WHAT they were doing?... running credit cards-once-twice-thrice?... imho never ever bring a credit card to a place like the gulch... $1 bills do just fine. Really though, I just can't imagine Fremont Street without this place, but I hope the new mgmt keeps the honest girls..... Cheers! Mrs Garcia!

The Wynn’s Aphrodite cocktail is liquid flirtation

In Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty and love, and she’s often depicted nude with voluptuous curves and come-hither eyes. It makes sense, then, that she gets a ...
