The Comedy Festival! Now tastier and skankier!

If Romy and Michelle were witty with a slutty sense of humor and reasonable singing voices, they’d be New York duo Tastiskank. Standing on a small stage at The Comedy Festival’s free admission LOL Lounge last night, Sarah Litzsinger and Kate Reinders looked like a pair of Skipper dolls. Each wore a frilly pastel cocktail dress and shiny tiara, and with the most benign of smiles, they sang about boys, relationships and love.
When I walked in they were midway through the romantic tune “Like It Or Not. “I’ll be your slice of lime, if you’ll be my tequila shot,” they crooned. “I want you to get really, really drunk, but safely drunk drive into my parking lot.” With a smirk Litzsinger gestured to her ovaries.

In front of a mixed crowd of young folks waiting for the Dane Cook show and older folks unsure what they’d gotten themselves into, the two petite blonds ran through a hilarious set of acoustic songs, that were indeed tastier and skankier than I’d expected. With some happily awkward attempts at choreography and furiously funny lyrics, Tastiskank’s performance was like an inner monologue musical for bad girls.
“My ovaries are rotting and my eggs are like shriveled raisins,” complained Litzsinger between songs.
“You’re eggs are not shrivd raisins,” protested Reinders. Ah, besties.

To end their show, Tastiskank announced they’d be performing a new song that they’d written for the festival – an upbeat number with the refrain “You really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really fucked me up.” On the first chorus, Reinders add the words “the ass” to the end, and a hilarious argument broke out on stage.
“It’s about emotional pain,” Litzsinger insisted.
“But you said…”
Eventually the pair picked the song back up, an ode to anal sex sung with bright smiles and giddy aplomb.
“Did you like it?” Reinders sung.
“I don’t know; I was drunk.” Litzsinger answered.
With the last rounds of the chorus, Tastiskank asked the audience to sing along with them, and their show ended with a good clap, a steady rumble of laughter and a roomful of strangers singing “You really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really fucked me up the ass.”
Tastiskank performs Saturday, November 22 from 9:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. at the LOL Lounge. No cover.
