Point Break Live meets untimely demise

The perils of print publications. Point Break LIVE! blew into town on October 1—a hilarious send up of the 1991 Keanue Reeves surfer action flick. You can look for our review in this week’s Las Vegas Weekly. And now it looks like it’s riding a wave clear out of town. As of press time we reported that the show was leaving the V Theater at Planet Hollywood for a new venue that was yet to be announced. Since then Eve Hars with New Rock Productions (the show’s producers) told the Weekly that while the show has a long shot of going to the Hard Rock, it appears almost certain now that it will be leaving Las Vegas and returning to Los Angeles. One hundred percent pure bummer.

I saw the show in San Francisco and it is not surprising to me that the show didn't make it in LV. This show requires a more young, hip, cerebral crowd and by cerebral I mean intelligent. No offense to Las Vegasans, but Vegas does not strike me as a cerebral town and most of the people who visit are not coming to see satirical comedy.
