Lance Burton signs on for another six years

Legendary magician Lance Burton may be known to make things disappear, but his show won’t be vanishing any time soon. The performer announced today that he has agreed to keep performing at the Monte Carlo though 2015. The casino’s president, Anton Nikodemus, said he was “thrilled” that Burton extended his contract as a headliner with the hotel for another six years. Burton, meanwhile, said he’s just happy to have a job. “I’m very very happy to be employed,” he joked. ... Read more...

Annie Duke: Duchess of Poker

Annie Duke is best known as a professional poker player, but if her social calendar gets much busier, she might need to add “socialite” to her list of titles. The so-called “Duchess of Poker” is the queen of clubs this week with a handful of events and appearances planned away from the card tables. Duke has a jam-packed party schedule in advance of Ante Up for Africa on Thursday and the big kick-off for Event 57 on Friday. The 13-day ... Read more...

Pussycat Dolls founder is back in Vegas with a new bag of tricks

You wouldn’t know it by the bedazzled costumes, the car painted with “I (heart) PCD!” in the Palms parking lot or the fans gathered at the Pearl on June 27, but the pop girl group the Pussycat Dolls started out very modestly – with a single dancer in Christina Applegate’s basement. PCD choreographer and founder Robin Antin was living with Applegate in Los Angeles in 1995 when she began exploring the idea of a modern burlesque troupe. Inspired by dancers ... Read more...

Of ping-pong and pretty people

What do former pro tennis player Anna Kournikova, actor Antonio Sabato Jr., Autumn Reeser of The O.C. and 30 Rock funnyman Judah Friedlander have in common? Besides all enjoying varying degrees of celebrity and appearing on TV in one capacity or another, most people would answer, “absolutely nothing.” However, the four seemingly different stars recently aligned at the Venetian, united by the love of good old-fashioned ping-pong. All three Kardashian sisters were at Pure on Friday as they celebrated the birthday of the trio’s most junior member. With her sisters Kim and Kourtney at her side, Khloe Kardashian blew out the candles as she turned 25 years old at the Caesars Palace nightspot. Lohan rolls solo for Vegas weekend

When Lindsay Lohan returned to Las Vegas this weekend, she didn’t bring her most controversial accessory with her. Celebrity watchers’ favorite scandal-prone redhead was at Wet Republic Saturday afternoon, but her on-again, off-again and apparently now former girlfriend, Samantha Ronson, was not. Alas, Ronson has a double-gig in Atlanta this evening, and instead of joining Lohan, she sent the soon-to-be birthday girl a message via Twitter. “Have fun,” Ronson said. Let’s hope they were just getting the weak material out of the way early. In my house, Father’s Day typically goes something like this: “Hi, Dad. Happy Father’s Day.” “Thanks.” (Hug.) “Ready for brunch?” “OK. Let’s go.” What follows is the American invention known as Sunday brunch.
