First, he was called a Mindfreak. Later, he was named Magician of the Year. Now, Criss Angel has another title to add to his collection: Magician of the Decade.

The Luxor illusionist received the first Merlin Award for Magician of the Decade from International Magicians Society this evening.

The society’s president, Tony Hassini, presented the award after the 9:30 p.m. performance of Angel’s Cirque du Soleil show, Believe.

It was the first time the society has given the momentous accolade in its four-decade history.

The organization has already named Angel its Magician of the Year five times, in 2001, 204, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Siegfried & Roy, David Copperfield and Lance Burton have also received the award.

The 41-year-old magician was humble after being named Magician Of The Decade. “I never set out to win awards, just to push my own envelope and try to create something that’s never been done,” he said.

He called the award “an honor.”

Hmmmm..... I remember when Milli Vanilli got the Grammy too.

Speaking as a professional magician for almost 25 years, I feel it's important to point out that Tony Hassini and the International Magicians Society is a bit of a "flash with no substance" kind of thing. It was created as a business model for Hassini and he gives awards to famous magicians to bolster the reputation of the IMS. Nothing really wrong with this - it's business. Just don't give any real praise to award recipients. They won solely due to their press value.

CA has alot more than press value going for him, just look at the factsand his history in magic, he isnt where he is today just for his looks or the woman he dates, he made it thru blood, sweat, and tears, and dont go reverting it back to his personal life, which yes i know youre not but i know with these posts it will fireball that way with just one mention! lol! but just give the guy credit where credit is due! he is completely deserving of all he gets wether its due to the press or who you know in the business, he def. didnt get there with that!!

oh and have you hung yourself lately by fishhooks or get run over by a steamroller or walk off the side of a building in broad daylight???
ENOUGH SAID!!
