Cheech and Chong to smoke Vegas

As much as fun as it would have been to write “Cheech and Chong to light up the Joint,” the duo’s next Vegas appearance won’t be at the Hard Rock.
In lieu of a clever play on words, here’s the news straight up: Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are slated to play Pearl this spring.
While the Joint would be an appropriately named venue for the Grammy Award-winning funny men, the Pearl will provide a far more intimate trip. (The new Joint, scheduled to open in April, will hold 4,055 people; the Pearl holds 2,500.)

- A quizzical look at the Cheech & Chong roast (11/22/08)
The legendary duo’s May 23 appearance at the Palms comes as part of their “Light Up America” tour.
Tickets for the show are priced at $39.50 and $59.50 (plus the regular service fees) and will go on sale this Friday at 4:20 p.m. (What a coincidence!)
Passes are available through Ticketmaster, Live Nation and the Pearl box office.
Cheech and Chong last appeared in Las Vegas in November, as part of the Comedy Festival at Caesars Palace.
The Pearl’s concert schedule added a second act today when it was announced that The Fray (of “How to Save a Life” fame) will play the venue on July 17. The group is currently touring in support of their latest album, which was released last month, and their new single, “You Found Me.”
Jack’s Mannequin will open the stage for the Denver-based group. Tickets for that show start at $55 plus service fees, and go on sale at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
