World’s Largest Bikini Parade. Be there.
Is the blonde-in-bikini thing getting old yet?
The LVCVA really has it together. First they come up with the killer slogan, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” and now they are going to have 300 women in bikinis parading down the Strip. May not solve our current economic conundrum, but it’s still a good idea.
The event, which will take place tomorrow from 10 a.m. and 2 a.m., is actually several major events. First, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Holly Madison, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign, will make an official “Start of Summer” declaration in front of the sign.
Summer doesn’t officially begin until June, of course, but it definitely looks and feels like summer right now. So Goodman is going to go ahead and make it official. To celebrate both the pool party season and the famous sign’s golden, a fashion show will show off custom-made swimwear representative of each decade, from the ‘50s to today.
Unfortunately, this portion of the festivities is closed to the public. You could, however, drive slowly by to get your eyeful. Or you could wait until noon, at which point a police motorcade will escort Hefner’s ex in a pink Cadillac and a bus full of women in bikinis down to the Fashion Show, where 300 beautiful local women and models will participate in what is aspiring to be the world’s largest bikini parade, breaking a Guinness Book of World record.
The dazzling display will embark from the Fashion Show, cross Las Vegas Boulevard to the Wynn, make its way over the foot bridge, and, completing a four-corner route, end up back at the mall. Afterward the women will disperse to various hotel pools on the Strip, which are each offering free entry to locals and deeply discounted cabanas. Check out the full list below.
Needless to say, the Strip will be filled with more than its usual plethora of excellent photo ops. If, as one would assume, you are going to be firmly seated at your desk around noon tomorrow, cursing fate and feeling bitter, don’t despair. I’ll be there with my camera to get those money shots and post them online so you can take a break from your drudgery and lift your workday spirits.
