Yo, Jonas Brothers, Vegas doesn’t like you either

Dear Jonas Brothers, Congratulations on your recent engagement, Kevin Jonas. The City of Las Vegas was excited for you. Keyword: Was. We were excited that your wholesome 21-year-old self was upgrading from Camp Rock cabin to honeymoon suite, that is until your brothers insulted our beloved city during an interview with People. When asked about bachelor party plans, Nick Jonas told the magazine, “It will be good, clean fun.” Joe Jonas chimed in, “It won’t be in Vegas. Vegas is ... Read more...

Dinner at The Peppermill with Dat Phan

About three quarters of the way into a phone interview with Last Comic Standing winner Dat Phan, he asked out of nowhere, “Do you like The Peppermill?” I’ve enjoyed the occasional late night chicken tender on the lounge side, but I had never ventured into the restaurant part of the neon and fake tree-covered venue. The San Diego comic told me that The Peppermill was on his must visit list, which is how, after Phan’s show at Harrah’s last Friday ... Read more...

My stripper suite, courtesy of Craigslist

Certain words and phrases exist in the English language that, when staring at you in the form of a blue link online, you must click on. “Stripper room” is one such phrase. Needless to say, when I came across these words while cruising Las Vegas Craigslist for bedroom furniture for an upcoming move, I was instantly intrigued. Not punctuated with an excess of exclamation points or typed in all-caps to emphasize its importance, the phrase stared blankly at me as ... Read more...

The real devil in Prada: Win tickets to “The September Issue”

I can’t help but wonder what Vogue editor Anna Wintour really thought of The Devil Wears Prada, the 2006 film starring Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, the dictatorial editor of fictional fashion magazine Runway. Wintour was supposedly the inspiration for Priestly, a terrifying presence in the film — snobby, demanding, close-minded and completely unconcerned with the well being of the minions who cower in subservient fear in front of her stilettos. To say she is the boss from hell would ... Read more...

UFC 103: where to watch

UFC 103 features an intense matchup in the main event between Rich Franklin and Vitor Belfort. Belfort came in a tad heavy on the scales initially, just a quarter pound over weight, but managed to make weight an hour later. Perhaps fans can make light of this fact with a tasty quarter pound burger at one of the many local bars and casino venues showing the fight. Other fights not to miss include Junior Dos Santos and Mirko “Cro Cop” ... Read more...
