Claire Sinclair is not a girl, not yet a woman

Clair Sinclair is a ripe 19 years old, but you couldn’t tell that by looking at her—especially when she’s alternating between shooting you bedroom eyes and pressing her nearly naked bum against a mirror. Last night, the Playboy Miss October 2010 began her weeklong stint as a guest star in Crazy Horse Paris, joining the ranks of previous celebrity guests like Carmen Electra and Dita Von Teese. All I can say is … WOW. The nubile centerfold is classically beautiful, ... Read more...

Action sports are cool! (and other lessons from Dew Tour day 1)

Action sports have arrived. That’s the general message I got during day 1 of the 2010 Dew Tour Championships at the Hard Rock Hotel. There’s this slight inferiority complex that permeates the scene, where even the biggest athletes—with the possible exceptions of Olympic powerhouse Shaun White and skateboarding pioneer Tony Hawk—aren’t exactly household names. So, that the boys have rolled into Vegas, land of constant media alerts and A-listers, means they’ve also arrived on the national radar in a high ... Read more...

First all-you-can-eat; now all-you-can-watch

Harrah’s has thrown down the gauntlet: How many live shows can you squeeze into 48 hours? It’s part challenge, part cut-rate deal. For $99 plus tax, you get an All Stage Pass to a variety of shows at eight Harrah’s properties in Vegas. The company’s biggest headliners—Elton John, Barry Manilow, Cher and Donny & Marie—aren’t part of the deal, and that’s sort of a bummer. But 17 second-tier acts are, including a few perennial favorites such as Mac King and ... Read more...

High dive

I’m so hungry. That’s what I’m thinking as I pause midair somewhere between the 52nd and 22nd floors of the Rio Hotel and Casino. I’m hanging from a rope, attached to an industrial-strength harness, which is wrapping around my legs, chest and torso. I’m dangling — somewhat like a spider on a string — from the VooDoo Lounge’s open-air rooftop patio. It’s 3:05 p.m., but I haven’t eaten lunch yet because my short to-do list for the day included three ... Read more...

I’m gonna jump

I can’t stop staring at the Rio. Seriously, it’s becoming a problem. Every time I drive down I-15 or head west on Flamingo, the hotel and casino is there, all 51 stories of shiny, color-blocked, dangerously slick glass towering over me. This Thursday — without a gun to my head, a $10,000 check in the wings or any sort of liquid courage — I am going to jump off the edge. Okay, it’s more of a slow shimmy. A few ... Read more...

New to suburbia: Homemade pasta

When it comes to restaurants, I’m not much for atmosphere. Serve me a well-seasoned and perfectly seared steak in a charmless cafeteria and I’m content. A maître d’ stationed at the door usually signals one thing: I’m tipping double tonight, or feeling a tinge of guilt when I don’t. I prefer paper napkins to cloth, klieg lights to candlelight; tap water to bottled. But my no-frills approach to dining—or, more accurately, eating—doesn’t necessarily extend to Italian restaurants. There, setting is ... Read more...
