Hot off the grill! With a grab bag of taste treats that starts with a secret being revealed. It’s now well known that Steve Wynn’s English wife Andrea is getting a restaurant named for her at his Encore and that it will open Dec. 28 in time for New Year’s Eve. It replaces Switch and takes over the 2,000-square-foot dining patio alongside Surrender.

Vegas DeLuxe has previously reported the newly designed 6,000-square-foot space will be a restaurant and nightlife experience. The key feature will be a raised dining area for guests who want to see and be seen. Swedish House Mafia resident DJ Steve Angello was picked as “musical chef.” The vibe dining will feature Asian items of sushi, dim sum, noodles and seafood.

Here’s what’s new and told to me by Andrea herself at the Garth Brooks wrap party in chef David Walzog’s Lakeside Grill: Over the main bar will be an intriguing photograph of a pair of eyes. She pointed to her own for me and said: “I spent a full day with photographers. We have captured my eyes in every conceivable way. We have different colors of eye makeup and eye shadow. There are smiling eyes, serious eyes, warm eyes, steely eyes; the eyes have it. There are eyes for every mood. They can change with the music if necessary. Robin: Now I’ll be able to watch you whenever you’re there!”

CULINARY CLASH: We have more information about the upcoming four-week Culinary Clash at the Venetian and Palazzo when the resort chefs compete in the master-chef competition. Chef Emeril Lagasse will judge Round 1 on Nov. 29, Mario Batali Round 2 on Dec. 7, Sammy DeMarco the semifinals Dec. 14, and there’ll be a surprise chef at the Dec. 21 finals.

The victor wins a trip to Italy, the inspiration behind the Venetian. It should be a brutal battle as the hotels have nine James Beard Award-winning chefs and their restaurants, more than any other Las Vegas property.

L.V. LOVES NYC: Las Vegas celebrity chefs with roots and staff in New York City and Las Vegas have created a food festival to benefit victims devastated by Hurricane Sandy. It’s set for Dec. 9 at the Brooklyn Bridge in front of New York-New York.. Tickets for $100 go on sale today at 866-606-7111.

A partial list of the chefs/restaurants invited to participate in the 4-hour “L.V. Loves N.Y.” event includes Mario Batali, Tom Colicchio, Scott Conant, Todd English, Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsay, Thomas Keller, Nobu, Palm Restaurant, Smith & Wollensky, Rao’s, Stage Deli, Nathan’s, Carnegie Deli and Old Homestead. Southern Wine & Spirits will provide wine, beer and cocktails, and proceeds go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Everybody who attends receives a commemorative chip reading, “When the chips were down, Las Vegas stepped up to help those who were dealt a bad hand by Hurricane Sandy.”

HALF-PRICE SUSHI: To celebrate its eight years at the Forum Shops of Caesars Palace, Sushi Roku will slash the check in half during lunch and dinner this Sunday through Nov. 29. Mention the anniversary to your server to get the discount. I recommend tuna tataki with pumpkin carpaccio and shimeji mushroom and ginger truffle soy and the blizzard roll of shrimp tempura and crab roll with tuna and avocado on top served with sesame dressing.

CULINARY STAR OF THE YEAR: The Nevada Restaurant Association hosted its annual Culinary Excellence Awards Gala and named executive chef Olivier Dubreuil of the Venetian and Palazzo as Culinarian of the Year. The criteria included exemplary dedication and skill to the craft, excellent teamwork, leadership and community service. Olivier, who has been at the two hotels since 2005, won over my pal Geno Bernardo of Nove Italiano at the Palms.
