Born and raised in Southern Ontario, Canada, Levon James moved to the United States at the age of 14. He lived in El Paso, TX where he was introduced to the underground dance music scene. At the age of 20, he moved to Detroit, MI where he began listening to techno and the funky sounds coming out of Chicago. He started learning how to beat match and began collecting records at the age of 21 when a friend sold him a broken down pair of Numark turntables for $75. Since then, he has developed a taste for funk, soul, hip-hop and jazzy tracks all tastefully blended together to make any party jump up and down. He is an avid fan of live music, often incorporating live instruments, percussion, vocals and on the fly sampling into his sets. He has remixed and reworked classic funk and hip-hop tracks like George Clinton's "Not Just Knee Deep," Snoop Dogg and Warren G's "Ain't No Fun" and Young MC's "Bust a Move" to name a few.
"Look, people say they want to hear this song or that song, and yet they don't want to hear anything that's played out or corporate sounding. So, I'll give it to them in a way that they totally don't expect. People are always caught off guard when those classic tracks start pouring into the room; it makes for a very memorable experience."
