Ganjaboat, also known as Roger Melius, started going to parties in 1997. Noticing how the DJs & MCs took control of the party he decided he wanted to pick up spinning records. Soon after this he started practicing his mixing skills with hip hop, reggae, dancehall, tricks and beat matching. However, he soon longed for more inspiration and diversity. Unbeknownst to him, he would soon hear the four on the floor thumps of jungle music. He instantly fell in love. The tricks and the skills obviously stayed; however, his choice of records soon became bouncier and bouncier.

Success never came easy; he had to work his way up the proverbial ladder and pay his dues just like everyone else. The first years he started proving his skills in the smaller clubs in and around Buffalo, NY. As the years progressed, more and more people spotted his talent, which resulted in bigger bookings at huge parties like, 'Thunderdome' and 'Grape Jam.' Pretty soon, 'Ganjaboat' had become a household name that pushed the jungle scene forward, not only inside New York, but reaching out to countries like Canada to cities like Chicago, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and presently Las Vegas.

Besides playing records he also took the next logical step and started hosting his own parties. In 2005, he moved to Las Vegas, where he started doing a weekly event inside the Venetian Casino at the VBar on Sunday nights. It was the first time Drum'n'Bass music was live on the Las Vegas Strip inside a casino. Several successful collaborations followed with events at the Icehouse Ultra Lounge, Brass Lounge located on Fremont Street downtown, and most recently the Tropicana Resort on Las Vegas Blvd becoming the first DJ to play at the pool at the resort since it has been built in 1957.

Sorry man, but there are some pretty bold and false statements in this article... DnB has been on the strip for many years prior to 2005. "four on the floor thumps of jungle music" That statement even Roger knows is hilarious and incorrect.

Absolutely one of the best Disc Jockey's out in Las Vegas. I have not had the pleasure of watching him since the Tropicana pool last year. A group of friends were out there every Monday to watch him and the bands.
