In 2004 producer Botek heard and met a DJ that he still calls "totally unique" - his name is Dave Onex, and a year later Elektrik Haze was born. Elektrik Haze are now one of the fastest rising production teams in dance music, with enquiries flooding in since the promo release of their reconstructed progressive remix of Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” which did serious dance floor damage worldwide and was listed as the "top pick" for over a month at Hard To Find Records.
The duo has a combined 25 years experience in DJing and production and the results of their collaboration have been impressive. Elektrik Haze has already had their material smashed for five weeks on Radio 1 with Judge Jules and has gained support from DJs all over the planet with their inventive, intelligent sound.
“A DJ is nothing unless he has tracks,” Botek says, and Elektrik Haze has produced some big ones. Their recent production, "Elektro Loser," is doing the rounds, played by everyone from Pete Tong to DJ Dan to Donald Glaude and touted by top producers the Flash Brothers of Yoshitoshi/Oxyde, as their top track for 2006 and 2007. Botek and Onex are also a powerful team in the clubs. Their recent shows and residencies in Las Vegas include Empire Ballroom, Tao, and Body English. Their rich sound fusing dirty electro, tribal and rock with progressive house beats has had some of the most prestigious labels in dance keen to sign the duo, while major chart artists are queuing up to have their own material given the same unique live remix treatment as recently applied to Beck, Green Day, Moby, Pink Floyd, Gabriel and Dresden, Xpress2, Nine inch Nails, the Flash Brothers and Eminem.
With a massive buzz for their spectacular and tight on-the-fly remix sound spreading like a firestorm across the U.S. since their debut appearances, it is no surprise that they were the stars of the 2006 Winter Music Conference at Nikki Beach and were back in Miami this March for WMC 2008. Two impressive talents apart, together Elektrik Haze is making waves in dance music at home and abroad.
