- Las Vegas Philharmonic presents "An American Portrait"
The Las Vegas Philharmonic's Masterworks Series continues with a concert of all-American music this Thanksgiving season. Opening with Aaron Copland's iconic "Fanfare for the Common Man" and "Old American Songs," the concert features Leonard Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from "West Side Story", Charles Ives's "Variations on America" and Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings. The concert concludes with Copland's moving musical tribute to Abraham Lincoln, his 'Lincoln Portrait' which will feature guest narrator, Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh. Soprano Linda Lister and tenor Mark Thomsen will also join the LV Philharmonic under the baton of the New York Philharmonic's Assistant Conductor, Case Scaglione, for this musical celebration of the American spirit. The pre-concert talk at 7:15 p.m. open to all ticket holders.
