[Cocktail of the Week]
Coca-Cola WE8
Collector’s Set, Everything Coca-Cola Store, 3785 Las Vegas Blvd. S., $60
Thu, Jul 17, 2008 (midnight)
Calm down, caffeine fiends—Coke hasn’t gone and changed its magic formula or anything like that. But for a short time, at least the bottles will be available in some very original new packaging. Timed to coincide with the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Coke has paired up eight of China’s top visual artists with eight progressive DJs (Tiësto, Benny Benassi, Kaskade, Jes, Serge Devant, Lucas Prata, Cezar and Jay-J) to create commemorative aluminum Coke bottles depicting what the Olympic occasion means to them—sort of an East-meets-West art installation on a soda. Benny Benassi, for example, and partner MeWe created a bottle called Uplifting Moments, wrapped in red jewels and paired with his song “Happiness Factory Remixed.” Collectors and electronic-music fans alike can find this exclusive set (eight bottles, CD and poster) in select locations in Beijing … or right here in Vegas.
