Practical Magic

Hometown: Los Angeles
Age: 37
Profession: Assistant GM and mixologist, The Beatles Revolution Lounge
Profile: “A lot of mixologists will make drinks that can’t be reproduced behind a bar by a bartender.” That’s why mixologist Glen Cohen focuses on simple, and practical cocktails for his list at Revolution. Arriving in Vegas 14 years ago, Glen has spent the last 13 of them behind the bar or traveling the world for competitions back in Voodoo Lounge’s flair heyday. In March, Glen was promoted to bar manager, then beverage manager, and now assistant general manager in addition to his duties as the venue’s resident mixologist. Captivated currently by gin, specifically Bombay Sapphire, his most recent creation is Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.
Why I do what I do: “I love being the center of the party, being a key part of someone’s experience. And [working the floor now as a manager] gives me more time to expand each customer’s experience.”
Personal tidbit: Glen pursued a motocross career until a series of injuries maxed him out at the intermediate level at age 22. He then turned his attention to working on bikes, specifically building custom Harley Davidsons. Glen still has three Harleys today, including one he completely built from the ground up called Black Sunshine. “And I ride them every chance I get.”
What I’m watching: The Dark Knight
Latest accomplishment: Stepping out from behind the bar into management, a step toward his goal of becoming a club owner or partner in the future.
Quote: “Good enough isn’t.”
