More on Dreaming of Lions

Duo Chris Leland and Joe Ervin, mainstays on the Vegas folk scene since 2005, have exceeded solid past efforts with this haunting serenade. “Inside this heart of mine, the blood don’t walk, but I don’t mind/Inside this room I hide, the pillows don’t talk, but that’s just fine,” Leland intones delicately amid graceful guitars and the discreet billow of harmonica. It’s when Ervin’s eerie voice joins in at the second chorus to shape an other-worldly harmony, however, that “The Pillows Don’t Talk” surges into one of the year’s must-hear numbers.
