The last time I saw Under the Influence of Giants in the flesh, they were wearing matching ’70s-style velour jogging suits and being entertained by the Bunnies at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion. They seemed as distant and disaffected (how very rock) then as they did Tuesday night during their live performance at Wasted Space. Just a smattering of fans showed up for the brief-but-satisfying gig (myself included), which featured hits like “Mama’s Room,” “Got Nothing” and “Ah Ha,” not to mention a kicky new tune with a Beatles-era feel that may very well be a forthcoming single. Now if only more people had been there to hear it.
