The Alaska Cocktail
Social Mixology Tuesdays, The Artisan Hotel, 9 p.m.-3 a.m., $10
Thu, Apr 9, 2009 (midnight)
Of the Alaska cocktail (creator unknown), The Savoy Cocktail Book, circa 1930, says, “So far as can be ascertained this delectable potion is NOT the staple diet of the Esquimaux. Says BarMagic’s Tobin Ellis, “We wanted to feature the Alaska because it embodies everything a great classic cocktail should be—simple, balanced, layers of flavor. The Alaska showcases Hendrick’s botanicals perfectly, especially the elderflower, cucumber and rose.” Social Mixology brings together self-styled cocktailians and beverage-industry professionals around a new spirit each month. All April, Social Mixology presents cocktails made with Leblon cachaça.
