Back to Berlin

The crowd at White Square Gallery’s final reception was as diverse as the work on the walls. Present: the dreadlocked hippie, the fedora-wearing hipster and the suit and skinny-tie set—all addressed as “my artists, my guests, my collectors” by owner Natasha Young.
From the controversial The Joy of Sex exhibit to its support for local bands, White Square provided what Young called an “art bridge between Europe and America.” She plans to continue “shocking people” at a limited number of local shows, but her focus will be returning the 20-month-old Vegas gallery to Berlin.
As a result, local sculptor/painter Horacio Caballero is looking for a venue. His older work was featured at White Square; he described a train station in one piece as “closed and alone,” much the way White Square’s artists must feel as the gallery shutters.
That painting behind is hung way too high, no wonder she's going out of business...
