Steve Wynn reportedly purchases Rembrandt for $33.2 million

“Portrait of a Man, Half-Length, With His Arms Akimbo” by Rembrandt was reportedly purchased on behalf of Steve Wynn.
Christie's
Too bad Steve Wynn yanked his art collection from his Wynn Las Vegas resort in 2005.
According to the New York Times, the $33.2 million that someone dropped last week on Rembrandt's "Portrait of a Man, Half-Length, With His Arms Akimbo" at Christie's in London came from Wynn's own pocketbook.
The Times reports that this is a record price paid for a Rembrandt at auction.
There is no word on what Wynn has planned for the portrait. In the past, it might have been shared with the public. Wynn introduced fine art to the Strip when he opened the Bellagio with a gallery that showcased his impressive personal collection.
The casino magnate also included a gallery at Wynn when he opened the hotel-casino in 2005 and used the space to showcase masterpieces from his collection, which includes works by Vermeer, Picasso, Cezanne and Manet, among others. Wynn closed that gallery within months of its opening to make room for a store. Perhaps we'll have to drop by his home for a peek.

Now, are those arms REALLY "akimbo?" I think not. Nice try, Rem.
I live in the UK (poor me !!) I've stayed at the Wynn Las Vegas twice and soon again in March 2010. The hotel is out of this world, but since it costs me so much to stay and I lost so much in the Casino (my fault !!) does this mean that I now own a tiny part of Mr. Wynns recent investment (please) ??
It seems unworthy of Wynn to have closed his gallery in favor of a store. Why couldn't he have just moved the gallery? You can't tell me that there's no place in Wynncore where he could have put it.
