[Team Hangover Report]

When the wine is in, the wit is out

In what seems to be a recurring theme for me, things went horribly wrong during a recent meal at the new Jean-Georges Steakhouse at Aria, where celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten personally selected our menu and brought out much of our food, carefully explaining how each course was prepared.

The evening began spiraling down the wrong path when I texted the details of my bountiful meal to a friend who was at home eating mere leftover soup. He replied angrily, “Fuck Jean-Georges.” The chef was unfortunately standing directly behind me within clear Blackberry-viewing airspace. Things only got worse when Jean-Georges caught on to the whereabouts of some of his newly-missing silverware (sorry, bad habit). But the absolute low point had to be when I accidentally hit him in the face with the bathroom door and ran off without apologizing.

Not surprisingly, my next reservation there is still “pending.”
