The Hard Rock Hotel’s print ads for this weekend’s Mötley Crüe shows proclaim that the band will rock the Joint “’til the walls come down.” Be careful what you wish for, guys.
On November 25, 1997, the Crüe played the final show at the original Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts, prior to the hotel’s implosion and subsequent resurrection. Reportedly, a minor riot broke out, injuring guitarist Mick Mars, sending four crowd members to the hospital and resulting in the destruction of a significant portion of the venue. And wouldn’t you know it, the Theatre was the only part of the old Aladdin not scheduled for demolition.
Considering the original Joint is slated to be absorbed into the Hard Rock’s casino space, expect security to be on high alert should chairs begin flying Saturday or Sunday night.
